Policy Agreement

Kids Can Sing provides private individual voice and/or guitar lessons, ONE FULL HOUR once a week by a professional coach for kids of all ages.  Adults and children are encouraged to participate in this innovative and original program developed by Melanie Redman.  Kids with special needs and/or disabilities are also encouraged to join the Kids Can Sing Program.  The program is designed to work with students of any ability level.  This fun environment is a place where each student learns to sing and/or play guitar correctly using proper body mechanics and techniques.  As an added bonus, all lessons take place in a professional state-of-the-art digital recording studio, where the student will also learn proper etiquette for studio recording, microphone use and how to record a CD from start to finish.

Parking and Drop-Off:  Please drive slowly down Sand Street PLEASE DO NOT SPEED if you are late.  Parking is conveniently at our front door.  Please park in our driveway. PLEASE PARK SO THAT TWO CARS CAN PARK IN DRIVEWAY.  Please do not park in anyone else’s driveway or on the street.  There is plenty of parking off the street on our new gravel and driveway! IMPORTANT: If you are late to pick up your child you must come inside to pick them up.  There will be no time to leave another student’s lesson to walk your child out.  At the end of each lesson the student will be escorted to be sure they are safely in your care, or you may come inside to pick them up.   The door is always open and you may enter without knocking so as not to disturb the student in a lesson.  Thank you!

Lesson times begin and end promptly as scheduled.   A tardy of 10 or more minutes will be considered a student cancellation unless a call is received with notification of late arrival.  There will be no call from our office to remind students of the lesson.  It is the student/parent responsibility to communicate per the policy agreement.  Please be on time when dropping off or picking up students for their lesson.

Background Music Tracks: Students are responsible for the cost of acquiring all their own background music (karaoke) they desire to sing.  Kids Can Sing does have an extensive library of over 3000 songs and we are happy to share at no cost to the student.  If students want to sing something that is not in our library they will need to purchase these materials.  Kids Can Sing can provide download service at a cost of up to $5.00 per song depending on the vendor supplying the tracks.   Students must also bring blank CD media to their lessons for study and recording.

Illnesses: Please do not bring your child to their lesson if they are sick.  Ill students will be sent home.

Open Mic Events: Students that have been in the program for at least four months are asked to participate in the " Open Mic" events.  Students are encouraged to invite family and friends in support of the student’s growth for these fun events.   These events build self esteem and using the skills in a “live on stage” presentation is extremely beneficial for individual growth and success.

Vacations and Holidays:  The following days are recognized as Kids Can Sing Holidays.

New Years Day, January 1
Memorial Day, the last Monday in May
July 1 through July 7
Labor Day, the first Monday in September
Thanksgiving Day and the day after, the fourth Thursday and Friday in November
December 24 through December 31

Make-up lessons:  There are no make-up lessons.

Payment: Monthly rate of $200.00 per month, due by the 20th for following month of lessons.   Checks are cashed the last week of the month for next month’s lessons.  Each month of lessons begin on the first day of the month.  If you begin lessons later in the month the cost is the same.  Payments are for scheduled time whether student is present for a lesson or not.  Annual charge of $50.00 is for printed handouts and digital recording disk space.

Commitment:
Most students master the art of singing and/or playing guitar correctly within one year.  To receive the full benefit of our program, the parents and student must be prepared for the long term (one year) to see a balanced, poised performer emerge.   Many children are able to achieve this in less time, however, in 20 years KCS has experienced that generally students are truly performing correctly in one year’s time.   Our program is a year round program and is designed to teach anyone to sing given sufficient time to learn the body mechanics.

Notice of Termination:
Students must provide one-month written notice to terminate.  Notice must be given on the 1st of the month for the following month’s termination.  If less notice is given, you will pay the monthly lesson fee, whether present or not.

Practice: To benefit from this program, the student must play with what they learn in their lesson, preferably daily at least one half hour.  Students who practice an hour a day excel in a shorter time and become more proficient in less time.

Very Important Note:  There is zero tolerance for drug and under age alcohol use on and off the facility grounds.  The student will be asked to leave the program if this policy is not respected.
