"Melanie Redman’s approach to music lessons and kids is incredible.  She connects with them on a kid level, and earns their respect at the same time.  The minute my son steps foot in the door, all of her attention goes to him and his music interests.  He immediately feels important.  Kids don’t get that at school, and not always at home either.  Besides wanting singing lessons, my son was having trouble with attention and with following directions.  Melanie reached him in a way no other adult was able.  She helped him see where his attention was slipping and he was “spacing out” when it came to directions.  The way she approached it with him was more like comrade than a critic.  She helped him get the confidence to accept himself and really try!  His skills improve in every single lesson.  She adapts the lesson to his needs on the fly."

" I wanted to let you know that Kids on Broadway did a little last minute performance on New Years Eve.  The kids had just one chance to rehearse their songs with the musicians.  Amy had a solo and did an incredible job.   We have never heard her sing so well.  Because of the way that the performance was staged, she had no time to put on a microphone.   It didn't matter.   She belted out her song, hitting every note perfectly and everyone heard her.   She even followed the pianist, who unfortunately had no time to figure out the rhythm for each performer.  Thank you so much!!!    We are completely sold on your methods."

Young Students
"I have only been going to Melanie for singing lessons for a little while and not as long as some of her other students, but over the time that I have been there, I have gotten to know her pretty well. There are many things that I like about her and the way she teaches. The main thing that I like about her is that she knows what she is doing because of how much time and effort she has put into her work and how long she has been doing it, so anything she says is useful.  She has a lot of experience, which she shares with you and tells you as much as she can, while telling you what is right and wrong. The whole time she is with you, she is giving you more and more information. I really like the fact that she has a recording studio for her students to use because they can get the real feeling of being a singer and what you would have to do if you were a singer. It really feels like you are in the environment you would be in if you were a famous recording artist. When you are a recording artist, you have a very developed diaphragm and when I first came to her, I know that I didn't, but she helped me develop it and showed me how to use it consistently, and from that I am now much more confident with singing in public more. The amount of space is good because it's not to small and there is enough space to work and move around freely, but not huge where you don't feel at home and comfortable. I always feel very calm and relaxed and I like if I mess up, I know I won't be embarrassed because it is just the two people in the room and no one else has to hear the mistakes you make. It is so cool the way that she has everything set up, meaning the headphones and microphones because everything is so high-tech, so that is how I would really sound if I were recording. Melanie, herself is very honest about your singing and she will tell you what you need to work on, which is very good because then you can try to improve a specific area that is evident to another person as not being as good as it possibly can be. She gives you a break when you need it and has you sing for the right amount of time and is always giving out constructive criticism. She never takes away an opportunity from someone. She always gives you as much time as you need to complete something and have it be to the satisfaction of the artist. I love the fact that she is so patient, but she does tell you what work you need to be accomplishing and how much time and effort you should be putting into your work. She is a very reliable person and is very dedicated to what she is doing for her students. The last thing that I wanted to talk about is the reason why she started this and it was all because she wanted to give kids around her the chance to express themselves through their voice. It was also because she didn't get a chance to do that when she was little, so she wanted to give us a chance to live our dreams and sing for as long as we wanted to, for a low price and for great quality, which I think is a very gracious gesture that she made and I am very thankful for it because I love that I am doing this and that I have the opportunity to experience everything she has to offer. Adult Students
As an adult student, I needed a particular kind of singing teacher, and I am so grateful to have found Melanie.  I want to sing for the joy of it, and I want to sing with correct mechanics so that my body will feel strong and healthy.  This is exactly what Melanie teaches.  I have no fear and no stress when I’m in her studio, and after only a few lessons, I’ve felt my voice gain in strength and clarity.  I’m working on songs that I’ve chosen, and I’m getting constant encouragement and help from Melanie.  She doesn’t ask me to live up to her expectations;  she asks me to go where I want to go with my singing.  I love that!  As a teacher myself, I understand the importance of communicating to the student in such a way that the student clearly comprehends (and in this case, feels in her body), the actions that will make her successful.  Melanie is a consummate instructor, bringing the kind of clarity and compassion that makes working with her a joy.

"You have been the most wonderful teacher and friend.   Your patience and understanding are Godsends, thank you.   You cannot know how much I appreciate the gift you gave me.   That would be the gift of song.   It is just so meaningful to me, I just love to sing, and I just really thought I would not ever be able to do that.   It was such a barrier in my life, and I could have never overcome it without you…It is such a joyous thing you do for people…Thank you for always making me feel like I'm a better person.  I'll never quit singing…my PRACTICE is my recreation."

"Melanie has given me my voice and it is deeply healing at the physical, spiritual and emotional levels.  I am an adult. Growing up and until these lessons I was one of those people that was asked to not sing because I had very little sense of melody or timing and my voice was without power or beauty.  In a very short time with Melanie's wonderful support and instruction I have developed a powerful voice that sometimes even sounds good.  The atmosphere for learning is wonderful and fun and Melanie is extremely supportive.  It is such a pleasure to learn in a recording studio and hear my progress. That I have recording facilities and equipment - a studio to sing in - is a source of enjoyment and pleasure for me. Learning to belt out a song is so joyful and empowering. Under traditional methods of singing instruction I never would have gotten this far so joyfully in such a short time.  I wholeheartedly recommend Melanie Redman and her teaching program."
