3 nights a week and once a month on Saturdays.
Program included 362 hours broken down as follows:

  • First Semester - 170 Hours 
    60 Hours of Instructional Time
    110 Hours of Recording / Mixing Session Work
  • Second Semester - 192 Hours 
    61 Hours of Instructional Time
    110 Hours of Recording / Mixing Session Work
  • To insure personal attention the class is limited to 18 people. The class is
    broken into 2 groups for Recording Sessions. All Mixing and Final Projects are
    in groups of 2. 
  • Course Objectives
    In the Certificate Program each student will:
    • Acquire skills in the operation of professional equipment used in recording studios and comprehension of how the equipment is used to create a variety of mixes. 
    • Develop the necessary organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills necessary to manage efficient and creative recording sessions. 
    • Gain a perspective on different production techniques and an understanding of the traditional aesthetic used in music recording. 
    • Understand the fundamental physical properties of sound. 
    • Have an understanding of basic electronics theory and troubleshooting. 
    • Obtain the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to use computers in music production. 
    • Learn the fundamentals of digital audio recording including the process and skills required to operate digital audio workstations. 
    • Understand the basic use of time code in multitrack recording, MIDI, and mixer automation applications. 
    • Engineer, with a partner, a final recording project of live musicians. 
    • Recieve a Certificate of completion approved by the State of California
