In
1988, after playing years in Top 40 bands, she began her serious career as a
professional songwriter and is a winner of several NCSA (Northern California
Songwriter's Association) Awards. Melanie
moved into Santa Cruz two weeks before the 1989 earthquake and her world has
not stopped moving since. Once
settled in, Melanie began her plans to be recognized as a musical resource in
Santa Cruz County.
In addition to using her music for community service activities, she
has signed songs to local Bay Area artists, written music for film, video,
books on tape and
commercial productions as well as theater.
Kenny
Edwards, Karla Bonoff’s Producer, Bass Player in Linda Rondstadt's Band the
Stone Ponies and mastermind behind three of
Karla’s top selling records, produced Melanie’s debut CD. Melanie caught the eye and interest of Kenny at Santa
Cruz’s Palookaville. The
result of their meeting is a highly polished production of Melanie's
songwriting.
